Every time I visit the fashion capital, I try to capture sights of things that are typical of this city so that I can post it and give you a glimpse into the little things that amuse and inspire me as I go about my shopping and writing.
I was walking along Corso Venezia in the Quadrilatero Della Moda, when amongst all the fast cars of the city, this cute red car topped with a pink stiletto had me smiling and thinking to myself…”Only in Milan…” I’ve seen similar marketing tools before of course, but somehow this strange old/modern combination of tomato red and baby pink just made me want to buy the car, forget the products they sell.
I had dinner with a new-found friend, named Sara, on the top floor of La Rinascente, when I spotted these tempting shoes. If chocolate did not threaten to melt, I would definitely have brought a pair of these home. The best part is that there were matching handbags!
With my tummy satisfied by sushi and cheesecake, I wished Sara well and hurried towards the San Babila metro station so that I could make it back to my hotel room before the transport system shut down for the night. Despite the seconds ticking by, I had to take a photo of this ‘watch’ chandelier inside the Swatch shop on Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
With old buildings all over the city, there’s always restoration and renovation jobs taking place somewhere or the other, but it’s easy to overlook it in Milan where work in progress is hidden by billboards like these… And with this sort of distraction, I am so surprised that motorists manage to concentrate on these roads…
