When I return to Italy in two weeks time, it will be to attend a function that ought to be one of my sweetest career highlights; the launch of the Montenapoleone shopping guide. My excitement is near over-flowing and I have even picked out the perfect black dress to wear on the chilly February evening; a long-sleeved, figure-hugging dress that makes me look and feel like a ‘Vogue’ covergirl. It’s chic, sophisticated and not overdone in the least. A dazzling diamante clasp draws the eye to the left shoulder, while patches of bare skin are tastefully revealed across the back and side slits creep up to the knee.
Such a classy dress needs to be accompanied by the perfect pair of classic-styled black shoes… And as always, I’ve started doing my homework so that when I reach Milan, I won’t have to spend too much time hunting… With the incredible range of pointy pairs and pumps available in patent or matt black leather – with and without platforms – I am rather confused…
The Gianvito Rossi heels appeal to me most, simply because each gorgeous pair mimics a design feature found on the dress; stone embellishments and hints of skin. However, the Jimmy Choo platform pump would probably be my best bet. The patent leather is perfect for night-time glamour, while the platform will add height and comfort. Overall, it is indeed a simple, practical shoe.
