D’ore impresses with paper and plastic gowns

Anyone who’s been to Sandton City lately could not possibly have strolled passed the revamped D’ore boutique. I can’t believe that I hadn’t noticed the amazing revamp taking place behind closed doors but I am gobsmacked by the facelift which draws attention with elaborate gowns in the window, magically created from simple paper and metallic plastic.

For years, my weekly pilgrimage to the bustling mall never saw me enter the exclusive boutique -first opened in 1980 – because in many ways, it just seemed too intimidating and uninviting but the recent takeover by businesswoman, Vanessa Gounden, has completely turned the look and feel around. The retail space oozes European flair in both set up and decor, transporting visitors straight to the heart of Paris while luxury branded ladies garments, including Escada, Armani Collezione and Emilio Pucci hang just a few metres from Vanessa’s own label, Vanessa G London.

I must congratulate the creative minds who conceptualised these paper and plastic ‘hooks’ which continue to spark ongoing flashes from cellphone cameras. I have seen some amazing window art during my trips to Milan, but this is certainly right up there with the best.
