Trade relations, my bling Toy Ring and bag/shoe combos

How incredibly convenient! The day that snowflakes drift through the air is the same day that I get chauffeur driven by Otieno to and from my first and most important meeting of the day. I had arranged for the entire group of SA designers to meet my friends at the Larusmiani textile factory not only because they would appreciate the quality of the materials produced but also because none of them had been exposed to the internal operations of a fabric factory which supplies the best of the best fashion houses globally. Giuseppe and Michael explained the entire process from research and creation to quality control, logistics and even how the company realizes their ultra-exclusive ready-to-wear and tailored ranges for men and women.

Back at Montenapoleone, my mission was simple. I was to enter the Toy Watch store and choose a Toy Ring as a gift to myself. Fully waterproof with a tiny face and bezel paved in Swarovski stones, I had difficulty deciding on whether the cute gold or silver piece would be a more practical accessory. I don’t like wearing wristwatches since I prefer a bracelet on each arm, so I settled on the understated silver ring to match my charm bracelet. Check out to see the other cool timepieces in a dozen different designs and colours, and if you are in SA, visit Fabiani in Sandton City where a small selection is kept. Cape Town has a monobrand Toy Watch store that stocks their very latest collections.

Today, I thought I would shine the spotlight on the best bag and shoe combos…

Sergio Rossi’s turquoise pairs in patent leather.

Prada’s stylish man bag picks up the navy strip in the dual-tone shoe.

Fratelli Rossetti pumps and handbags beautifully crafted from black and white leather with cut-work detail.

Baldinini’s slingback sandal and tote tiled in black, grey and white.

Testoni’s pointy shoes, sandals and envelope bag sectioned with white, bright blue, orange and pink leather.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Hogan label has teamed up with Love Magazine editor, Katie Grand, to bring us a girlish collection of pumps and cross-body bags covered with hearts. (By the way, I spotted the iconic German designer at the Four Season’s hotel today 🙂 My natural reaction was to reach for my phone and take a pic from a distance but then I realized that I would probably be escorted out of the building if I did.)
