So I have less than a month to submit all my work and concentrating at this time of the year takes a lot of discipline because everyone I know is either basking under the sun in Durban or Cape Town, or relaxing on the beaches of Mauritius. At least I get to go into the new year with all my ducks in a row, absolute piece of mind knowing that I can meet my deadline and an acute knowledge of exactly what the top European fashion houses have to offer. While compiling my articles for the Spring 2013 edition of the Montenapoleone shopping guide, I discovered this serene collection from Emilio Pucci. His boutique on Montenapoleone is out of sight but a short stroll through an alley will bring you to this latest range of light and fresh white creations.
Creative Director Peter Dundas has envisioned the springtime Pucci wearer as a woman with inner strength and a subtle serenity on the outside. To capture her glamour and grace together with the ease of summer style, transparent fabrics hint at the lightness. Sheer tunics worn over chiffon trousers, sleeveless tops and silk crepe dresses, create a romantic veiling effect. Dragons and tigers are intricately embroidered in white to lend texture on the monotone canvases while sensual patterns on transparent micro-beaded outerwear, or on embroidered column dresses with veils on the outside seem to be tattooed onto the body. I would imagine that you would have to be in great shape to successfully wear any of these because the transparency reveals a lot and you should have worked on achieving a golden glow to avoid looking ghostly. If you have what it takes, be prepared to look pure and angelic.
